Less Kenneth Cole is more.

Kenneth Cole will step down as CEO of his own company to allow former Liz Claiborne exec Jill Granoff to run it. Which is great, because he’s been losing ground lately. But, the really sad news is that apparently Kenneth will keep writing copy for his terribly pun-ny ads.

Garmento (Fortune) writes:

In hiring Granoff, Cole has shown a willingness to pull back from day-to-day decision making to focus on the creative and strategic vision of the company, including his hallmark of clever advertising.

As copyranter states, and I can’t disagree, Kenneth Cole is “the worst copywriter in the history of advertising.” Personally, I think that altogether, the Kenneth Cole brand could use less Kenneth.
